Commercially Astute Projects Director

Are you a highly organised and commercially astute Projects Director with the desire to lead and coordinate a highly effective Project Management team? We are dealing with an exceptional opportunity to become the Projects Director of an impressive manufacturing organisation, located in north Buckinghamshire.

Responsibilities:
• Reporting directly to the Managing Director to manage the execution of projects in line with the companies desired outcomes.
• Instructing and advising the appropriate project team members, including project managers, technical and administrative staff, suppliers and partners engaged on the delivery of projects.
• Managing and coordinating activities throughout the process, to support and guide those who are directly responsible for project completion.
• Managing and coordinating all contractual, technical, financial and legal inputs on projects for which directly responsible and provide guidance and support to those managed by Project Managers.
• Managing the interface with and support to the commercial teams for all business winning activities in conjunction with the site commercial manager.
• Forming valuable working collaborations with public and private sector partners, internal and external stakeholders, at a senior level.
• Maintaining and disseminating domain knowledge on industry projects including reviews and feeding back outcomes.
• Implementing a system of continuous improvement through analysing best practice from other industries and recognised accredited bodies in project management.
• Establishing key skill areas for all project managers to specialise in.
• Developing business processes and procedures appropriately.
• Building a professionally recognised skilled team in project management.
• Integrating processes that add value to the way in which the business operates, through disciplines such as Earned Value Management.
• Coordinating the provision of all relevant budget and programme information to the Managing Director and Board as appropriate.
• Preparing reports/briefing notes for senior management, Executive and Board members, as appropriate to project status, using key business systems.
• Coordinating Value Management and post project review exercises at relevant stages of the project lifecycle.

Ideally you will have a HND or Degree in an Engineering or Management discipline. You will also ideally have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Railway Industry, including ideally a minimum of 5 years in the management of major rolling rail stock projects.
